Es una de las preposiciones temporales más antiguas del inglés, derivada del nórdico antiguo 'und' (hasta) combinado con 'til'.

ERRORES COMUNES AL USAR

En cláusulas con 'until', no se usa futuro (will). El verbo debe estar en presente simple aunque se refiera al futuro.

'Until' normalmente va después del verbo principal en orden natural. Aunque la primera estructura es gramaticalmente posible, es menos común.

until:
Cuando 'until' introduce una cláusula (sujeto + verbo), va seguida de un verbo en tiempo presente o pasado, no futuro: 'I will wait until you arrive' (no 'until you will arrive').
'Until' y 'till' son intercambiables, pero 'till' es más informal. Ambas son correctas, aunque 'until' es más común en escritura formal.
